Your Bridal Beauty Checklist: What to Do Before the Wedding

Aug 18, 2026

Bridal Beauty Starts Before the Wedding Day

You’ve booked the dress, photographer, venue, and probably more things than you can count.

Now it’s time to make sure your hair and skin are just as ready for the cameras.

The best bridal beauty prep doesn’t happen the week of the wedding. A few well-timed appointments, paired with the right home care, can help your hair reflect light beautifully, give makeup a smoother canvas, and make the final weeks feel a little less rushed.

Here’s what we recommend.

60–90 Days Before: Start With Your Skin

Great wedding makeup starts before the makeup artist ever picks up a brush.

Begin a consistent skincare routine about 60–90 days before the wedding and give your skin time to adjust.

Service: Add a Mini Facial to a Head Spa appointment for cleansing, exfoliation, toning, and hydration with FarmHouse Fresh skincare.

Try at Home: FarmHouse Fresh Vitamin C Booster combines 15% Vitamin C with 5% Ferulic Acid to help brighten the look of dull, uneven skin. Keep the rest of your routine simple with moisturizer and daily SPF. FarmHouse Fresh skincare is available in salon only.

2–3 Months Before: Schedule Your Hair & Makeup Trial

Your bridal trial is where the full look starts coming together.

Bring your veil, accessories, dress photos, and inspiration pictures so your stylist and makeup artist can see the whole vision.

Service: Bridal Hair & Makeup Trial

This is the time to work through the details, test your style, and talk about anything else your finished look may need, including extensions, brows, color, or a haircut. Elayne James currently offers bridal hairstyling and classic, photo, and glam makeup options.

Try at Home: Redken One United Multi-Benefit Treatment

A lightweight leave-in is useful during this stage because it helps with detangling, manageability, heat styling, and everyday conditioning without requiring a complete change to your routine. Use it after washing and before blowdrying so your hair stays easier to work with as you approach the wedding.

Available in salon and through the Elayne James online store.

A Few Weeks Before: Take an Hour for Yourself

Wedding planning has a way of turning every free hour into another task.

This one is different.

Service: Signature Relaxation Head Spa + Mini Facial

Give your scalp and hair some attention with cleansing, exfoliation, massage, steam, conditioning, and a nourishing hair mask. Adding a Mini Facial gives your skin some extra care at the same appointment. Head Spa and scalp-care services are part of the salon’s full-service menu.

Try at Home: FarmHouse Fresh Hyaluronic Booster is a good choice for hydration. It uses multiple forms of sodium hyaluronate, along with Vitamin C and Vitamin B12, to replenish moisture. FarmHouse Fresh is available in salon only.

1–2 Weeks Before: Finish Your Color

If you color your hair, plan your final appointment about 1–2 weeks before the wedding.

This is the time for your regular root color, highlights, tonal adjustment, or whatever you and your stylist have already planned.

Service: Your Custom Color Service

That may mean a Root Color Retouch, Custom Partial Highlights, or another planned color service. If you’re new to Elayne James, start with a First-Time Color Consultation so your stylist can meet you and your hair, discuss budget, and build the right plan.

Try at Home: Redken Acidic Color Gloss Shampoo

This is a smart wedding-week choice for color-treated hair because it focuses on maintaining shine and keeping freshly colored hair looking polished between salon visits. Use it with your regular conditioner or the matching Acidic Color Gloss conditioner if that line is already part of your routine.

Available in salon and through the Elayne James online store.

7 Days Before: Add the Shine

This is one of our favorite finishing touches.

Service: Hair Gloss

A gloss about a week before the wedding can refresh tone, add reflective shine, and smooth the look of the hair without making a major color change. Elayne James currently offers Hair Gloss services starting at $55.

Try at Home: Matrix Miracle Creator Multi-Tasking Treatment

This lightweight leave-in helps with detangling, smoothing, and heat protection, making it a practical final-week product when blowdrying and styling are happening more often.

Use it on damp hair before styling and keep the amount light, especially on finer hair.

Available in salon and through the Elayne James online store.

The Night Before: Do Less

By this point, the work should already be done.

No new skincare. No aggressive exfoliation. No last-minute color experiments.

Service: Your bridal hair and makeup plan is already set from your trial, so the best “service” now is simply following your artist’s prep instructions.

Try at Home: Stick with the cleanser, moisturizer, and haircare your skin and hair already know. This is not the night to test anything new.

Your Bridal Beauty Timeline

60–90 days: Mini Facial + FarmHouse Fresh Vitamin C Booster
2–3 months: Bridal Hair & Makeup Trial + Redken One United
A few weeks: Signature Relaxation Head Spa + FarmHouse Fresh Hyaluronic Booster
1–2 weeks: Custom Color + Redken Acidic Color Gloss Shampoo
7 days: Hair Gloss + Matrix Miracle Creator
Wedding day: Let us handle the rest

A little planning now means fewer beauty decisions during wedding week.

Your hair is ready. Your skin is ready.
